-Inn At Cedar Falls
My husband and I took our first ever couple’s trip to Hocking Hills, Ohio, a little over 3 years ago when we were just dating. It was on that trip that I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with Nick. We were married a year later.
We decided we wanted to spend our second wedding anniversary back in Hocking Hills. We stayed in a cottage at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls. As we pulled back the gravel road to the cottages, I was little skeptical but once we reached our abode and I was able to take in the breathtaking scenery, I was in heaven. We ran up to the cottage, opened the door and were greeted with a gift bag and a sweet note from the Inn. The cottage was perfect with a large open bedroom and seating area, a Jacuzzi tub, a spacious bathroom, stocked with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot and a deck. Oh, the deck… It was so cute and allowed us to look out at miles of woods. There was no TV, which was a surprise but a delightful one. That meant no distractions from each other.

The room is stocked with board games so we decided to play a few intense games of Scrabble throughout the weekend. I’m pretty sure I won all of them. We enjoyed that time together so much that we bought Scrabble when we got home.
The Inn provides breakfast for its guests each morning so the alarm was set to make sure we could enjoy it. We woke up to what we thought was a car alarm going off in the distance only to find out it was cicadas! The area was infested. I honestly found the noise to be soothing though. It definitely gave it a “we are in the middle of nowhere feel.”
We were welcomed at breakfast by friendly staff and a delicious aroma. It wasn’t a typical hotel or Bed and Breakfast breakfast. There were several items on the menu to choose from. Everything was cooked to order and there was an ample amount of food. My husband and I agree that we had the best pancakes ever at the Inn. They also served yogurt with homemade granola that was quite tasty. The bacon was fantastic. Well actually, everything was fantastic. They grow a lot of their own vegetables and herbs on the property so everything was very fresh.
Nick and I then headed out for a day of ziplining at Valley Zipline Tours. After a few hours of flying through the air, we went back to our beautiful cottage to take a quick nap and clean up for dinner.
Once we were refreshed we headed over to the Inn for dinner. Dinner is not included with the stay but the price is reasonable and definitely worth it. The restaurant offers fine dining Sunday – Thursday and encourages reservations. Fridays are known as casual Friday because the menu is more casual, as well as the staff dress code. We had dinner on a Friday. Nick had an amazing burger and I had salmon that melted right in my mouth. The glaze was so incredible that I thought, for just a second, about licking the plate.
After dinner we hiked Cedar Falls Trail, which is only a few minutes from the Inn. Nick and I hiked this trail three years earlier. It was as gorgeous as I remembered and I once again stood under the waterfall letting the water hit me as if it was washing all the stress of life away.
We headed back to our cottage for one last night of tranquility. We played another game of Scrabble, enjoyed the Jacuzzi and sat on the back porch listening to the cicadas and all the nature around us. I can’t wait to return to the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls, whether it’s for a weekend stay or just to grab dinner.
