“Probiotics are the live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. We usually think of bacteria as something that causes diseases. But you body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.”

When I was pregnant with my daughter 6.5 years late, the same allergist suggested I take probiotics in my third trimester. She explained new research had shown that moms who took probiotics in the third trimester greatly reduced the presence of food allergies in the babies. The third trimester is when the immune system is being developed. My daughter did have Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis but has not shown any food allergies yet. Whether or not this is because of the probitoics I took, I do not know. I do however, know what an important role probiotics play in healthy development.

Did you know that over 70% of our immune system is in our digestive system?

Thanks for the info. My daughter’s doctor has been telling me to give her a Probiotic but I have been doing internet research and haven’t found info that I am looking for! I actually went to the store tonight to look at some and I just stared at a few and couldn’t decide!
There aren’t many children’s probiotics out there. I love that ProGaia is one of the most well researched children’s probiotics in the world. Good luck!!
