Today’s project is a fun little banner for Valentines Day. The best part is, it is budget friendly!

I love decorating my fireplace for different holidays and this burlap valentines day banner is perfect.

What you will need:
– Burlap cut into 4.5 x 6.5 rectangles (or I bought these burlap Mat Stacks at Michaels. They were 8.99 but I used a 40% off coupon)
– Craft paint – White, hot pink and red
– Foam paint brush (round)
– Valentines day stickers (these came from the Dollar Tree)
– Jute or twine – Mine came from the dollar spot in Target
– Glue gun

First decide how many flags you need to go across your fireplace or wherever you plan to hang it. I used 8 (probably could have done 10)

Secondly, we need to cut our burlap. I bought mine precut so there were already 4.5×6.5. I wanted a flag type look so I folded them in half and cut a little triangle out of the bottom.

PAINT! I set mine out on a garbage bag because the paint will seep through the burlap. You can paint them anyway you would like. I chose to paint every other one white.

Next I used round foam brushes and made polka dots on the flags that we didn’t paint white.

Let your paint dry.

Next take your stickers (or you could paint) and place them on your flag however you want.

Take your twine and cut it so that you will have at least 3″ left on the ends.

Turn your banner pieces over and set them 2.5″ apart. Using your glue gun put a line of glue about a 1/2″ down and place your twine in the glue. Press the twine down (be careful that glue is very hot)

Once you have the twine glued to all of your banner pieces, place another line of glue and fold the top down over the twine.
Take your twine at the end and tie it so there is a loop for you to hang it with.

Now hang up your banner and admire it through the holiday!
