Meet Evan: He needs your help!
According to his family, Evan is a funny, smart, and loveable 3 year old dancing machine! He lives in Villa Hills with his mom Tracy, dad Carl and big sister Ryan. Evan was very recently diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (GCD), an inherited disorder that causes his immune system to not work properly, making him susceptible to infection. They only cure for this disease is a bone marrow transplant.
Because none of his family members are bone marrow matches, his best chance of finding one is through the Be The Match Registry. Evan’s family has organized a donor drive in his honor to increase the pool of donors in hope of finding a match for him. That is why they are asking for your help! The Event (see details below) is scheduled for Thursday, November 14 at Covington Catholic Highschool. If you are unable to attend the drive, you can still help. Home kits can be ordered at
www.BeTheMatch.org .
Please consider helping Evan! YOU may be the match little Evan needs! The more people tested, the better Evan’s (and anyone needing a bone marrow transplant) chances are. So, spread the word!
Evan and others need a matching tissue type- not a blood type match. Tissue types are inherited- Patients are more likely to match someone of their own ethnic and racial background.
