In the days leading up to our Disney Kids Play date, the boys and I talked about which games they wanted to play and which recipes they’d like to try. We had fun planning the party together. They both decided that they wanted to make the Minnie and Mickey cupcakes using the Disney cupcake wrappers. We had a good time shopping for the ingredients and other supplies we would need for the party. My boys love to bake, especially when it’s a dessert and they get to lick the spoons after we are finished! They helped with every step of the cupcakes, they not only tasted great, they were super cute too. They enjoyed putting the ears on and sneaking a few ears for themselves in the process. Yum!ax
They also decided they’d like to do an egg hunt. So, we filled all the eggs with candy, Disney stickers, Disney tattoos and some with little African animal figurines. The boys decided that when a guest finds an animal figurine they win a Lion Guard poster and a Disney Junior bag. I thought that was a great idea!
The day of the party finally arrived! We were all very excited! We decided to host the party at a city park and rented a shelter for it. We got there early and put the Disney table clothes on and taped them down so the wind didn’t blow them away. We put our cupcakes out on display and got drinks and cups ready. We taped up the Disney Parks Four Corners game on the four posts in the shelter and hung the Draw the mouth on Mickey Mouse game. Finally, we hid the eggs for all the kids!
When the guests arrived we greeted them and let the kids play on the playground equipment until everyone arrived. Once everyone was there we counted down to the egg hunt, the kids were so excited! When the egg hunt was over my boys handed out the Frozen Glad sandwich bags. Not to be confused with Freezer bags. These are the super cool Elsa, Anna, and Olaf bags! (This reminds me of a time at the grocery, right after seeing Frozen in the movie theater with my boys, and mentioning that we needed to buy some Organic Frozen Pizzas. My oldest looked at me excitedly and said, “They make Frozen pizzas now!” I said, of course they’ve always made frozen pizzas. He was so disappointed when I pulled the pizza out of the freezer. He said, “Mom, that’s not a Frozen pizza, that’s just a normal pizza.” I said, “Oh, I understand, you mean because it doesn’t have Olaf or Elsa and Anna on it.” “Yeah, mom!”)

The kids enjoyed cracking open their eggs and finding all the treats inside! The bags worked great for storing all their treats. The kids who found the African animal figurines in their eggs were thrilled with their prizes! After the egg hunt we just had a BYO picnic lunch which worked out great! With all the food allergies and the other prep work we did for the party it was a little simpler to do it this way. Thankfully, we had a beautiful sunny day and all the kids enjoyed their picnic. After lunch, we played some more games and gave out more prizes. First, we played “Disney Parks Four Corners.” Then we played Draw the Mouth on Mickey. We decided it was easier to give each kid a different color marker to draw the mouth on, rather than cut out mouths and tape them on. We just used a snow hat as the blind fold and then had them each try and draw the mouth on without peeking. They had a great time with this! After the “Draw the Mouth on Mickey” we played “Disney charades”. The kids were so good at this! They all sure know their Disney Characters! After each game we allowed each child to pick a prize from the prize box. This worked out great! During the party, we asked kids and parents what their favorite memories were of visiting Disney parks. We enjoyed hearing and telling our fun memories and it made everyone want to plan another trip to go back soon! Some guests thought they might want to try the parks in California next time instead of Florida. That sounds good to me!
As the party started to wrap up, we passed out the Mickey or Minnie cupcakes that my boys had worked so hard on. Overall, the play date party was a hit! The parents and the kids all had a ball!
The very next week our family visited Disney World! We stayed at The Swan and had so much fun! The new Fast Pass + system and the ability to make more Fast Pass reservations right from my smart phone made it so easy! No need to wait in line at kiosks anymore with the update to the My Disney app that allows visitors to make all their fast pass reservations and dining reservations right from their phones. We never waited in a line longer than 15 minutes and we did everything! We will be planning our next trip soon!
