It’s finally getting warmer outside! Soon our children will be cured of their cabin fever and will be able to run and play outside. You can’t keep them safe from every danger out there, but you can protect them from the sun. It’s important to keep your skin safe outside. Even if it is cloudy it can still cause you to get a sunburn. This is especially important for young children. They play and sweat outdoors all day, keeping them protected isn’t easy. They may get scrapes and bruises but sunscreen is one shield you can keep on them when they go out to have fun.
There are a couple main categories for sun protection. Wear protective clothing like hats and sunglasses can help keep your skin covered in the sunlight. Playing in the shade occasionally is a good way to keep some of the rays off you as well. There are a few ways to maximize your protection from sunscreen as well. Applying sunscreen 30 minutes before playing outside can make sure it is set in the skin well. Every three hours is also a good timeframe for reapplying lotion as well. It can rub off or wear off even if it says all day or waterproof. Don’t be afraid to put it everywhere! Even if you think you have the spots covered you don’t want to have burns around your clothes when they move around slightly during activities.
Skinfo Skincare has produced this great resource to show kids about sunscreen and how to stay protected while playing out in the sun.

I have to say, my girls are great about sunscreen. They think about putting it on more than I do. I have so glad.
Very timely post! My son just learned that lesson the hard way…that sunburns are more trouble than putting on a shirt or sunscreen!
We spend a ton of time in the sun so skincare is a huge priority. Great info!
My whole family is sensitive to the sun. And to top it off, we have melanoma on both sides of the family. So I am very good about putting on sunscreen, but it’s a great reminder of the importance of taking care of your skin for my girls.
What a great way to get kids to be ok with sunscreen.
The infographic was very helpful. Thank you!
Great informative post! We are very sun conscious as my boys are very fair. Skin care in the sun is very important.
I like the diagram at the bottom with picture of the kids. It’s good to see those places we forget.
