If there is anything Pigeon Forge, TN is lacking, it’s definitely not entertainment. Home to many leading shows, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out which ones your whole family will love. We’ve seen most of the shows in the area and I’ve listed below our top dinner show, variety show and comedy show choices. These are the shows that stand out among the rest and my kids beg to go back to. You won’t be disappointed!

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede
Dinner Show: YES
“Dixie Stampede is an extraordinary dinner show with thirty-two magnificent horses and a cast of top-notch riders. They will thrill you with daring feats of trick riding and competition, pitting North against South in a friendly and fun rivalry. You will enjoy a barrel full of music, dancing, special effects and family friendly comedy along the way.”
There’s a reason tickets for the Dixie Stampede sell out so quickly. Your entire family will enjoy the variety packed, interactive performance. Cheer on your side as your feast on a full 4 course meal- without utensils! How do you eat soup without a spoon? You’ll soon find out.Â
TIP: Put gym shoes on your kiddos! A few kids are invited to be a part of each show. However, to walk down on the hay covered floor, they need to have gym shoes on. Our son was picked one year, but with sandals on, he couldn’t. Connect with them before you go: website, Facebook, Twitter.
Smoky Mountain Opry
Dinner Show: NO
“The Smoky Mountain Opry is the area’s largest musical variety show featuring music from Big Band Swing through today’s country. See the most talented cast of singers, dancers, comedians, and musicians the Smokies has to offer!”Â
Many claim the Smoky Mountain Opry to be the very best show for families (and in general) in the Smokies! Although it’s on our must do list, we have yet to see it. How this leading show has slipped by us so far, I don’t know. But don’t let it slip by you! Featuring laser lights, pyro, ‘flying’ acts and sparkling costumes set to music styles from country, disco, movies and more, I can certainly see why so many insist on this show.Â
TIP:Â If you visit around Christmas time, this show is even more of a must! Christmas At The Smoky Mountain Opry is a multi-million dollar show like nothing you have ever seen! We plan to visit this winter just for this show alone. Connect with them before you go:Â website, Facebook, Twitter.

Dolly Parton’s Lumberjack Adventure
Dinner Show: YES
“With amazing State of the Art Sound and lighting, Multi-Million dollar designed sets and unbelievable special effects, Dolly Parton’s Lumberjack Adventure Dinner & Show experience will WOW everyone!”
Dolly’s Lumberjack Adventure is the newest show in Pigeon Forge. Opening in just May 2016, this is another Dolly Parton masterpiece and is sure to become as wildly popular as Dolly’s Dixie Stampede. Keep your eyes peeled during the show as surprises are often and much of the show takes place off the floor.Â
TIP: Arrive early and visit the interactive Trading Post where you can pan for gold and become a lumberjack yourself! Connect with them before you go: website, Facebook, Twitter.
The Comedy Barn
Dinner Show: NO
“The Comedy Barn® Theater, is voted the most award winning family comedy variety show in the Smoky Mountains. Featuring magicians, jugglers, ventriloquists, comedians, live country and gospel music. It’s a night of a thousand laughs – guaranteed!”
Be ready to laugh until you cry! We’ve seen the show many times and each time is as great as the one before. My kids find it hilarious and don’t worry a bit about what they’re going to see and hear. Except for the occasional “shut up”, The Comedy Barn comedy is about as clean funny as funny gets. This is the one show my son has begged for each time we’ve gone (from age 4 to now 11) and the whole family belly laughs along. Be ready to be a part of the show!
TIP: Arrive early and your child may be chosen to participate on stage in an act later in the show. Even if they aren’t chosen, there is an opportunity for all children to come up on stage during the show. Also, The cast is out and about meeting guests prior to the show and they don’t save their comedy just for the stage! Connect with them before you go: website, Facebook, Twitter.
